Jasmine Smith is an Associate Director of Admission at Maumee Valley Country Day School. She is passionate about social and educational change and students receiving something concrete from high school that is not just a high school diploma but a worthwhile learning experience that prepares them for common life encounters.
Jasmine's long term goals include working with a career development department to increase work force preparation and entrepreneurial skills among teenagers and working with a curriculum development company to enhance the high school curriculum so that students are better prepared to be civically involved. Jasmine believes in preparing teenagers for the changing workforce by introducing them to more careers in technology such as cyber security and helping them get various certificates that would qualify them for good jobs sooner so they can build their resume. Jasmine also believes that another way to prepare high school students as citizens is to introduce them to a civic centered education. By consistently focusing on the democratic process and how students can make change in their community, students learn to find more purpose in their education leading to them attending school more and dropping out less.
