Name
Rethinking Stewardship of Named Scholarships
Date & Time
Thursday, September 19, 2024, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Description

What is the best way to acknowledge and thank donors for their commitment and generosity, while not asking more of students on named scholarships? Is it appropriate for donors to hear directly from students and families? Should students know if they are on a named scholarship and about the donor? How much should all students & families understand about the finances of the school? In this session, we will go through the circumstances that led to an overhaul of how donors of named scholarships are stewarded at Lawrenceville. The Lawrenceville School’s Scholarship Aid and Alumni & Development departments partnered to transform stewardship efforts that support ~$15M in Scholarship Aid with the goals of (1) ensuring that students on aid do not feel "other" in any way (2) donors are informed about the impact of their scholarship and (3) educate both donors and students of the impact of giving to Lawrenceville. We look forward to sharing our experience and hearing from others about how they handle named scholarship stewardship.
