Beyond a Playdate: Creating Kindergarten Assessments that Fit Kindergarten assessments are an amazing opportunity to demonstrate your brand (let parents and children feel what your school is all about!), gather important (but not superfluous!) data, observe children in a way that is meaningful to your school, and mitigate unconscious bias that might creep into the assessment process. This session will center around all things Kindergarten assessments, especially: • Basic developmental understanding of 4-5 year old children…and understanding of their parents! • Setting clear internal expectations of what we are assessing for • Focusing on collaboration with your academic team (and any outside expertise!) to create assessments that are meaningful and appropriate to your school • Considering and confronting bias in the assessment content, experience, and evaluation • Walking parents and children through the assessment day so that it becomes a connective (rather than isolating!) experience • Strategizing on how assessments fit into our larger brand and marketing efforts Just like we strive for in kindergarten assessments, this session will be interactive, informative, and fun!
