Description
From rising tuition to AI to intensifying parent expectations, independent schools are facing an unprecedented set of challenges. Despite these shifting demands, the leadership structures and organizational charts of most schools remain stuck firmly in the past. This interactive session explores the growing gap between traditional leadership models and the evolving human capital needs necessary for schools to remain mission-aligned and sustainable.
Unlike other departments, enrollment management cuts across the entire organization, putting enrollment professionals in a unique position to think institutionally, break down silos, identify opportunities, and ultimately create change. Through small group discussions, reflection, and interactive exercises, the session will challenge enrollment professionals and other school leaders to evaluate the strengths and opportunities within their current organizations and leverage a discrete set of tools and ideas to ensure their schools adapt with the times.
This session will be grounded through the research of organizational theorists like Brené Brown and Simon Sinek; change management best practices; and data from a survey of independent schools. Those theoretical underpinnings will be made concrete through real-life examples from NA.
Participants will learn how to:
Think Horizontally, Not Vertically - Create structures, roles, and communication channels that break down silos and promote collaboration
Embrace their Unique Value Proposition - Identify key differentiators, lean into “white space,” and ensure leadership structures match school needs
Adopt a Change Management Toolkit - Drive innovation and turn ideas into action
Foster a Culture of Continuous Improvement - Cultivate an environment where feedback and reflection promote ongoing growth
