Description
The transition from Lower School to Middle School for families is often unknown and overwhelming, especially for the students themselves. To overcome retention challenges, St. George Episcopal School developed Middle School Preview Days. Middle School Student Ambassadors in the Office of Admissions are an important tool that allows us to showcase what Middle School is truly like to our current students. Come learn about how we structured these preview days that happen during the school day, from planning and organization, preparation and day-off execution, and follow up surveys and information shared with families. Did our program actually work? We’ll review student feedback data and retention rates over the past three years that this program has existed and the take-aways we have gained. Attendees will gain a procedural model and steps to implement their own version of a Middle School Preview Day, while leveraging Middle School Student Ambassadors or current students and parents on their campus. Attendees will also see an illustration of how we gained buy-in from faculty to support and help with this campus-wide initiative.
