The Unquantifiables: Read Between the Lines & Identify Character Skills
Date & Time
Friday, September 25, 2026, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Description
Enrollment decisions often rely on a combination of data, intuition, and experience. But beyond grades, testing, and polished applications, admissions professionals are constantly interpreting something less defined: a student’s readiness, family dynamics, and overall fit within their school community. This session introduces a practical framework for identifying key durable skills, such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, motivation, and social awareness, through everyday admissions touchpoints, including interviews, parent conversations, and student interactions. Participants will also explore how signals of family partnership, alignment, and advocacy style emerge during the process - and how these dynamics can shape a student’s experience once enrolled. Through real-world examples and interactive scenarios, attendees will strengthen their ability to “read between the lines,” moving from surface impressions to deeper insight that supports both enrollment and long-term student success. Learning Objectives Participants will: Identify 4–5 core character skills that influence student success in independent schools Recognize how these skills present in interviews, tours, and parent communication Distinguish between polished responses and indicators of authentic readiness Apply a simple, usable framework to inform admissions conversations and decisions
