Description
Parents, who feel school administrators care about knowing them will have even more faith that a school will know their child (Moll et al., 1992). This creates a situation ripe for partnership. A strong sustained partnership between a school and a child's parent caretakers can be an instrumental key to positive student and family school experiences. This workshops will reveal the findings of my mixed-methods doctoral dissertation on the sense of school belonging felt by parents, who receive financial aid fund at independent schools. I will identify and discuss the reasons why some caretakers of students on financial aid feel a higher sense of belonging than other caretakers of students on financial aid. I will discuss how schools can conduct similar research at their own site of practice.
