Description
Join us for a multifaceted exploration of how Chinese families approach day school enrollment through the perspectives of consultants, students, and school admissions and advancement leaders. We will begin by examining how families select agents and consultants, along with the key questions they ask when choosing between day and boarding schools, with a focus on the advantages and challenges of the day school experience. We will also discuss how schools can effectively partner with agents and consultants while maintaining accurate brand representation. Hooray! Both sides have said yes. Now what? We will present four case studies highlighting student experiences after enrollment, including both successes and areas for growth, to better understand how schools can support international students in a meaningful and well-rounded way. Monica will share insights from her experience as a former Guardianship Officer, responsible for evaluating student fit and monitoring well-being in alignment with CSIET standards. MJ and Susan will discuss how La Salle College Preparatory (CA) and Kingswood Oxford School (CT) support students through onboarding, community building, and ongoing care. Finally, we will connect these efforts to advancement, demonstrating how strong student experiences foster deeper family engagement and long-term philanthropic relationships. LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. Distinguish between the types of commission structures with agents vs. consultants 2. Identify your specific institution’s strengths and areas of growth in supporting the international student experience as a day school 3. Cultivate a robust international student experience that shapes long-term family engagement, resulting in philanthropic success
