Description
Independent schools are navigating rising tuition pressure, shifting family expectations, and intensifying competition, yet many struggle to articulate what truly differentiates their experience. In this interactive case-study workshop, participants will examine how The Lawrenceville School employed a systems-thinking approach to clarify and communicate its value proposition to support various areas of school operations, as well as how individual departments apply the value proposition to their work/how the value proposition manifests in their work.
The value proposition became an overall framework for strategic departmental initiatives, including a school-wide effort to develop a portrait of a graduate and an examination of the efficacy of the admission rubric in determining student success, providing an aligned approach that could be more easily and understood by school stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees.
Drawing on institutional research, including family experience surveys, focus groups, attrition patterns, and a Family Experience Index, this session explores how Lawrenceville surfaced under-communicated strengths, identified family experience gaps, and mobilized cross-functional leadership teams to align its mission, messaging, and the lived student experience. We will share the wins and the hiccups we encountered along the way, as well as some clear, tangible changes implemented as a result of our value proposition discussions.
