For the past eight summers, A Better Chance has partnered with Test Innovators to prepare scholars for fall admissions testing through a 5-week intensive prep program. The course focuses on building core math, reading, writing, and verbal reasoning skills through live virtual instruction led by experienced teachers. Each year, Test Innovators collects and reviews student data, feedback, and test scores to refine the program and improve outcomes. This summer brought the program’s most significant change yet: the addition of Wild Zebra, an AI-powered tutor that provided each student with personalized, real-time support alongside live instruction. By combining human teaching with AI-driven interaction, the program was able to meet students where they were—reinforcing skills, identifying gaps, and supporting progress in a highly individualized way. This session will present the results of this AI-integrated approach as a case study, highlighting both quantitative outcomes and qualitative student experiences. Attendees will gain insight into how AI can be meaningfully layered into traditional instruction to support equity-focused initiatives, boost engagement, and scale individualized learning in mission-aligned, student-centered ways.
