This session offers participants a foundational understanding of one of the most urgent risks
facing schools today: nonconsensual deepfake sexual abuse. Evan Harris will walk participants
through how the legal landscape is evolving, the patterns of how incidents show up in school
communities, and why traditional policies and protocols so often fall short.
Participants will engage in a tabletop exercise to walk through a simulated incident and learn the
key components of a comprehensive response—including fact-finding, containment, and
coordinated communication. The session will also cover how to build policies that treat synthetic
images with the same seriousness as real ones, how to educate parents without causing panic,
and how to ensure your school is prepared before a crisis occurs.
This is a working session designed for school leaders who want to take meaningful steps to
protect students, support victims, and ensure their institutions are proactive—not reactive.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Participants will gain foundational knowledge of how nonconsensual deepfake sexual
abuse are impacting students and schools.
2. Participants will learn the core elements of a school policy that addresses these
threats—including discipline, victim protection, and prevention.
3. Participants will leave with a working framework for parent education, staff training, and
incident response grounded in best practices.
