Come hear from our esteemed panel: a life-long enrollment manager, an enrollment manager turned head of school, and an educational search consultant. All the answers you need in one seminar as you plan for the future!

Speakers:

 

Sheila Bogan, Middle and Upper School Director of Admission, The Packer Collegiate Institute (NY)

Sheila is the Director of Middle and Upper School Admissions and Director of Financial Aid at The Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where she has been in that role since 2011. Prior to moving to a NYC day school, Sheila was the Director of Admission and Financial Aid for six years at The Dublin School in Dublin, NH (boarding and day school).

Sheila started her admissions career in 2001, at Sacred Heart University, where she also received her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She serves on many committees in the NYC regional area and is also an Erdmann Advisory Council Member. She is an advisor at Packer and also serves as the faculty advisor for the LGBTQ+ student group.

Jim Hamilton, Head of School, Berwick Academy (ME)

A Boston native and graduate of The Roxbury Latin School, Jim credits his independent school experience with transforming his life. He has dedicated his professional career to creating opportunities for students and the advancement of independent schools. After graduating from Amherst College, Jim began his career at Brooks School as an admissions officer, dorm parent, and coach. He then served as the Director of Admission and Financial Aid at St. George’s School in Newport, RI for nine years before returning to Brooks as the Associate Head for External Affairs, a position he held for six years before being named Head of School at Berwick Academy. Jim served as a faculty member of The Enrollment Management Association Admission Training Institute (ATI) for many years. Jim received a MALS degree from Wesleyan University. He currently serves on the board of trustees at Roxbury Latin and is a past board member of Shore Country Day School. Jim and his wife, Lucy, have three children, all of whom attend Berwick Academy.

Ruth Shoemaker Wood, PhD., Managing Director, Storbeck Search (NJ)

Ruth brings scholarly training and hands-on experience to her understanding of the higher education landscape. She is a Managing Director at Storbeck Search where she has conducted searches for senior-level administrative positions within colleges, universities, and independent schools. Prior to entering the executive search sector, she served as Assistant Dean of Students at NYU’s College of Arts and Science, as a Career Counselor at Penn, and as a consultant to educational institutions experiencing organizational change and strategic planning challenges. Ruth’s book, Transforming Campus Culture: Frank Aydelotte’s Honors Experiment at Swarthmore College, was published in 2012 by the University of Delaware Press. Ruth has enjoyed teaching in the Higher Education graduate programs at NYU, Penn, CUNY, and Rider University.​
